Welcome to Tom’s Reviews!

If you know me personally, then you know that I love writing Yelp reviews and I am a huge foodie! If you read my Yelp reviews, they are usually very meticulous and long. I wanted to have a section on my website where I review certain products and services like credit cards, travel products, bourbon, restaurants, experiences, etc. I find money valuable and I see products as investments. Products and services are meant to help you in some way and I don’t like to waste money on bad products and services.

So welcome to Tom’s Reviews! I named it Tom’s Reviews and not Tommy’s Reviews because I have decided that when I turn 40, I want to go by Tom instead of Tommy. I think Tom sounds wiser and it prevents the childish nicknames of “Tommy the Tank” or “Tommy gun”. Also, my Mom calls me Tom. You get the picture?

With the age of the internet, almost every product is reviewable now. Consumers are getting smarter and that is why marketing is so important nowadays. However with reviews, there are many trolls on the internet and fake reviews out there. Unfortunately, a con with capitalism is that there are many competitors out there selling similar products in every industry. Obviously, they all want YOU to buy THEIR product. So it is in their best interest to leave negative reviews on their competitor’s products and boost favorable reviews for their product for a competitive advantage even if it is morally wrong. So it’s important to read a review carefully and take it with a grain of salt.

As a rule of thumb, I ignore every review that has a single rating and has like one word or one sentence saying “this product sucks” or “this product is the best thing EVERRRRRR!” That doesn’t mean anything as anyone can post a review without even trying the product or service. I will take the time to find the honest reviews and they are usually the TLDR (too long didn’t read) reviews that most people pass over. Usually honest reviews will go into specifics about a product’s or service’s pros and cons. The other thing I look at is the number of reviews. If there are a ton of favorable honest reviews then that will factor into my decision as well when buying a product.

Remember this is your money and you have to choose what products you want to buy. To summarize, this section will be where I share no BS, honest reviews with you of products and services that I have tried and use. The majority of these reviews will be positive and they have earned my stamp of approval. Welcome to Tom’s Reviews!
